A season of waiting

Image
Corey and I are in a season of waiting. We are waiting for direction from the Lord. We are waiting for healing in our bodies. We are waiting for prophecies to come to fruition. And it’s hard to not be impatient! The last week has been especially hard mentally for me. I have cried, I have felt like giving up, I have been determined, I have wanted to scream. Uncertainty is so hard! God is calling us to a knew depth of faith and trust though. He is wanting us to rely on him solely!  Earlier I was telling Corey how I feared I would never have my voice back. I am not able to sing right now. By noon, my voice is gone from talking. It’s something that’s been going on almost a year. It feels like a piece of me is gone. On his side, Corey misses being behind a pulpit. He misses preaching and leading others to Christ. He feels like a part of him is missing. But what do you do when you are in a transition and waiting season? Everyone has these times in life. So we have to do what waite...

Resting in the Lord

Image
When the psalmist says, “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him” ( Psalm 37:7, NKJV ), he’s not talking about physical rest that involves taking a break from activity, relaxing, napping, or stopping to gather strength to continue or complete some physical undertaking. Rest in the Lord refers to a spiritual rest from confusion, worry, stress, useless human effort, and a break from all internal, external, mortal, and spiritual enemies. The Hebrew word translated as “rest” means “to be at peace,” “to be still,” “to be quiet or calm.” The Bible promises us rest though in Christ. “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” ( Matthew 11:28–30, NLT ). “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint...

Depression and anxiety broke

Image
I had anxiety as a child. I had anxiety as a teenager. I had anxiety as an adult. I had depression as a teenager. I had depression as an adult. At 17 I went crying to my dad at 3 AM saying “I don’t want to cut myself but I need to.” In 2017 I was suicidal. My anxiety was so bad I couldn’t drive for 6 months. But God wasn’t done with me; my story wasn’t finished.  In 2017 I found out I had medication resistant depression. I had a chemical imbalance and my body would only metabolize 2 antidepressants. I got help. I saw a psychiatrist and counselor.  2020 I did counseling again with my pastor. That is when I dealt with generational curses. Every women in my family has depression and anxiety. My uncle died of suicide. What my forefathers/mothers didn’t bind in the blood of Jesus and break off the chains of, I was dealing with! See depression cursed my family. I read Free At Last by Larry Huch and broke those generational curses off. By the blood of Jesus shed on Calvary we a...

Producing fruit

Image
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.  John‬ ‭15‬‬:‭4‬-‭5‬  This morning I read this verse and when I saw it, I envisioned a large orange tree full of fruit. What does it mean to “bear fruit”? Let’s look at Galatians first.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law .  Galatians 5:22-23 The Greek word translated as “fruit” refers to the natural product of a living thing. Paul used “fruit” to help us understand the product of the Holy Spirit, who lives inside every believer. The fruit of the Spirit is produced by the Spirit, not by the Christian .  Like fruit that you eat, th...

Time of Struggle

Image
The truth is I am struggling. Physically and mentally. Since 6/2022 my health has been under attack. My sciatica is so inflamed I can’t walk more than 10 minutes without pain. I’m laying on the couch on a heating pad as I write this because preparing chicken to bake for meal prepping brought me down.  Yesterday we watched The Passion of the Christ. I started to read The 7 Places Jesus Shed His Blood by Larry Huch also. This battle I am facing is spiritual warfare. I rebuke it minute by minute and plead the blood. This attack is intense though. It’s non stop and I am weary. So I am asking for prayer. That pain is gone, asthma is gone and mental health is renewed. The devil knows that I am tired. I have cried, I have yelled at the devil driving down the road. I lay on my face before God begging for healing. I have Corey anoint my back with oil. There is power in numbers though!  We are struggling as a family also with health. It’s not my story to go into but our ENTIRE fa...

Peace

Image
My heart has been so troubled by the recent shooting in Nashville’s Covenant School. As I have prayed I keep hearing “Peace I give.” So what is peace? How is peace from Jehovah Shalom different?  I have had issues with anxiety since I was a child. Taking Xanax may “calm” you down, but it doesn’t give you peace. When I filed for divorce September of 2020 from my first husband, I felt the peace that surpassed all understanding! Sure I cried! Who wouldn’t after 12 years of marriage, finding out about infidelity and drug addiction? But I was not depressed, laying in bed, unable to do basic functions. I still worked every day. I still showered and put on makeup. I got dressed up for church. I ran to the Father, Abba!  Divorce is hard! Plain and simple! What I learned is that the peace Jehovah Shalom gives you can not be given or taken by the world! When you humble yourself and reach out to him, he will come down to you!  “And the peace of God, which passeth all understa...

The power of prayer

Image
The power of prayer Have you ever doubted if God hears your prayers? Have you ever wondered if your prayers matter? I know I have! For a long time, I thought it didn’t matter if I prayed because I thought God didn’t listen to me. It turned out I was praying wrong.  Let’s start with the Lord’s Prayer.    Here is the example God set out for us.  Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Matthew 6:9-15 Our Father which art in Heaven: Jesus teaches His disciples that God is our father who resides in Heaven. The Apostle Paul restates this by exhorting the believer to address God as "Abba" (Aramaic for "Daddy"- the kind of intimate word that a child would use to his or her father)  • Hallowed be thy name:  The first of sev...
