The Mind of Christ Part 1
The mind of Christ
Part 1
Paul says that we have the mind of Christ in 1 Corinthians 2:16 even sinners have this in a small measure it is called their conscience.
Romans 2:14-15 tells us that our conscience is the law of God written on our hearts that bears witness to the law of God, and that our conscience either excuses us (makes us feel good about the right thing) or accuses us (makes us feel bad about the wrong thing). This scripture quoting from Jeremiah 31 is fulfilled in us after being filled with his spirit, not only teaching us right from wrong, but also enabling us to do what is right.
Sinners have the breath of God, which is their living soul, this part of God doesn’t want you to sin, and will actually betray you when you lie. Your micro expressions, body language, and even heart rate can change when you are doing or saying something wrong. You can’t avoid the fact that you have a God given conscience. You can’t avoid the fact that God is speaking to you all the time in your head using your voice in the first person.
Jesus says the Holy Spirit comes to convict the world of sin (John 16:8) that’s your conscience but some people suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18) they do not want to retain God in their knowledge, so God will turn them over to a reprobate mind (empty of conscience) the Devil is the one who wants to condemn and make you feel worthless and irredeemable, because that keeps you defeated, and perpetuates the cycle. But the Holy Spirit when it convicts it also brings hope of repentance and restoration. It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4).
When Peter preached his message on the day of Pentecost, the crowd was “cut to the heart.” Their conscience was telling them they needed to respond to this message, so they asked, “Men and brethren what shall we do?”
Peter answered,
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)
