Rest for the weary
This morning I was reading a devotional about stress and depression. A few things stuck out.
Jesus is always there with you through your highs, lows, wins, and losses in life. He simply invites you to come to Him. He’s not there to shame you, to tell you that you’re less than something because you’re suffering. Instead, He's there to provide you hope, love, rest, and relief. You don’t have to try to carry the weight of life alone. We have a Heavenly Father that will take our burdens and give us rest.
Can you picture Jesus standing there with outstretched arms, mail pierced hands saying, “I know you’re going through a rough time. Come to Me. You’re tired. Lid is hard sometimes. Life has put something on you that you can't do by yourself. But you you don’t have to do this alone. Only I can give you that true rest that you need. Do you want rest for your soul, body and mind? I promise you that I’ll give it to you. I’m gentle, loving, patient, and kind. Let me help you. Let me love on you."
““Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude”
Psalms 46:10-11
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30
We have a Heavenly Father who cares! He dresses the fields and the Lillies, he cover us in his love and provides for us. He is gentleman though. He won’t just intrude. All we have to do is go to him in prayer and ask for help. It’s that simple!
Yahweh,
I come to you today to lay my burdens, stress, worries and fear at your feet. I ask that you would take this yoke from me. It is too much for me to carry on my own. I cling to your word and promises that we don’t have to fight our battles alone. You are a waymaker, a prison shaking savior and a chain breaker. Minister to my soul with the Holy Spirit. Help me to always come to you in my time of stress and to rely on you. You are faithful and will never fail us! I claim this in the mighty name of Yeshua!
Amen
