Developing The Mind of Christ
Developing the mind of Christ:
Paul tells us that if we are filled with the Spirit then we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) but HAVING and hearing are two separate things. If you read 1 Corinthians 2 Paul tells the Corinthians that he preached a simple message of Christ and him crucified because this was all that they could understand and handle at the time. He did not try to impress them with wisdom and deep things. While we never move away from this simple message we can grow and deepen ourselves within that message.
Paul goes on to say that while he did not initially speak with wisdom to them, he does speak wisdom to those who are mature. The word mature in Aramaic is complete or whole. We have spiritual growth to do if we want the deep wisdom of God. Paul then begins to describe this spiritual wisdom showing that while the depths of God’s wisdom are beyond human understanding, that these are revealed to us by the spirit and that we do possess the mind of Christ.
How do I develop the mind of Christ in my life, so that I can clearly hear God speaking to me daily? You have to speak to yourself the word of God.
Instead of waiting on God to speak to you. Use the word of God to speak to yourself in your mind. Speak the promises of God to yourself. Speak the commandments of God to yourself.
Speak the word to yourself every single day.
Not only do we speak the word of God to ourselves, but we also speak the character of God to ourselves, Paul says:
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
You control your mind. You control your thoughts. The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
Cast down every imagination and bring every thought that exalts itself above the mind of Christ to the captivity of Christ. Cast your cares upon him, cast every weight and every sin upon him. Forget the things that are behind and focus on the things ahead.
Then start thinking the word and character of God. Before you know it you will realize God is speaking to you and revealing things to you.
You have the mind of Christ.
