Keeping a pure mind and heart

What are you invested in?  What do spend time and Money on?  Who do you support? Are the core values lining up with the Word of God? Are you supporting companies that are “Woke”? What are their core values?  The Bible speaks of a pure mind and heart that is set on Christ. What are you doing to foster that?  Matthew 26:41 (ESV) 41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” “More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it. Have nothing to do with a corrupt mouth; keep devious lips far from you.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭ Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Proverbs 4:23 honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keeping the Feast of the Lord and the Sabbath

Why do we, Corey and Heather, keep the sabbath and feasts of the Lord? ““Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭8‬-‭11‬ ““Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy. “ ‘Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do any work on that day must be cut off from their people. The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating

Praise and Worship

“worship” (Strong's Concordance, 2023): “Full of humiliation and surrender, with your body extended, begging spread out over the floor.” In 1 Chronicles 16, David uses the word shachah, which English Bible translators have translated as “worship.” However, this word means much more in Hebrew. In very basic form, shachah means, “to bow down.” Expanding further on the word, it carries a richness of other connotations like the action of prostration on the ground, paying homage and to humbly beseech someone else. barak This word is lessened in severity from shachah, but still carries the connotation of kneeling in reverence and literally bending at the waist as a sign of submission. Barak is used in many ways in the Old Testament, and it can also mean, “to bless in adoration.” todah Taken from another Hebrew word, yadah. Todah literally means “thanksgiving.” It is also used to describe a thank offering or an act of adoration. In some instances, todah is used in conjunction with choirs

Spiritual sight

This weeks Torah portion is called “Re’eh” which means to see. It initiates a time of introspection before we get into the High Holy-days. The Torah portion starts with Deuteronomy 11:26- “See, I am setting before you today a blessing  and a curse“ The Hebrew word Re’eh is singular as though Moses was writing this for each individual to see for himself. But what exactly are we supposed to see? God sets forth both the blessing and the curse within his word. Curses for disobedience and blessings for obedience. These are the consequences of his Law. He wants us to see past the letter or the duty of the Law. To see both the blessing and the curse of our actions.  The curse of the Law is death upon all those who have disobeyed it. Which includes all of us. We’ve all sinned and failed to meet the righteous requirements of the Law. But our Messiah became a curse for us and hung on the tree in our place. So that the Blessings of God’s promises might be given to those of us which believe. At t

The Refiners Fire

The Refiners Fire Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD. -Malachi 3:1-3 What is a refiner's fire? This is a method of purifying precious metals with intense heat. Impurities rise to the top, where they can be skimmed off and discarded. The way a refiner knows that the process of purification is complete is by looking into the open furnace and checking whether he can see his reflection in the metal. He knows the dross has all burnt away when he can see himself clearly. As a christi

Struggles at Work

More truth talk! It’s only 9:30 AM and I am struggling at work!  The day started with some comments I didn’t appreciate or like. Frustration, anger, confusion, and quite honestly, burn out are plaguing my mind. So what should a christian do when faced with this?  Pray! I sent a text to my husband and mom telling them what was going on and asking them to pray. When you are weak or struggling, it is ok to ask other to lift you up! But don’t forget to pray yourself! You may have to pray over and over all day. Whenever you have negative thoughts or feel a negative attitude creeping in, pray and give it to God!  Be persistent!  Change the atmosphere. How do we change the atmosphere? Music is a great way! Turn on some praise and worship music! Drawn out the outside noise and influences.  Don’t take it personally. Remember that we do not fight against flesh or blood but the power and principalities of darkness. Rebuke Satan and give the struggle to God!  Choose to respond in grace, compassi

A season of waiting

Image
Corey and I are in a season of waiting. We are waiting for direction from the Lord. We are waiting for healing in our bodies. We are waiting for prophecies to come to fruition. And it’s hard to not be impatient! The last week has been especially hard mentally for me. I have cried, I have felt like giving up, I have been determined, I have wanted to scream. Uncertainty is so hard! God is calling us to a knew depth of faith and trust though. He is wanting us to rely on him solely!  Earlier I was telling Corey how I feared I would never have my voice back. I am not able to sing right now. By noon, my voice is gone from talking. It’s something that’s been going on almost a year. It feels like a piece of me is gone. On his side, Corey misses being behind a pulpit. He misses preaching and leading others to Christ. He feels like a part of him is missing. But what do you do when you are in a transition and waiting season? Everyone has these times in life. So we have to do what waiters do; se
